Saint of the Day: Saint Casimir

Saint Casimir was a young prince of Poland and Lithuania who chose holiness over power, pleasure, and ambition. Born in 1458 into a royal family, he was raised for leadership but formed his heart for God. Even while surrounded by wealth and influence, Casimir lived a life of prayer, purity, and compassion for the poor.

Despite pressure to seek political authority and marriage, he remained devoted to Christ, practicing self-discipline and deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Known for his love of justice and his concern for the suffering, he used his position to defend the weak rather than to elevate himself.

Saint Casimir died at only 25 years old, but his short life shines as a powerful witness that true greatness is found in holiness, not power.

Did You Know?

Saint Casimir is the patron saint of Poland and Lithuania and is especially honored by young people striving to live pure and faithful lives.

Prayer of the Day

Saint Casimir,
faithful servant of Christ and example of holy youth,
help us to choose virtue over comfort
and faith over worldly success.
Teach us to live with purity of heart,
love for the poor, and devotion to Mary.
Pray for us, that we may seek God above all things.
Amen.
