Day 18: Daniel Fast 2026 Devotional

Scripture Focus for Day 18

Daniel 10:18-19
“Again one having the appearance of a man touched me and strengthened me. And he said, ‘O man greatly loved, fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage.’ And as he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, ‘Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.

Meditation & Reflection

By Day 18, the initial excitement or novelty of the fast may have worn off. Your body might feel the cumulative effects—perhaps fatigue, clearer focus, or even moments of temptation to quit. This is exactly where endurance is built.

Just like Daniel’s 21-day fast in chapter 10 involved waiting, spiritual warfare in the unseen, and eventual strengthening from heaven, your commitment is producing something lasting.Reflect:

  • The angel told Daniel, “You who are greatly loved…” (or “O man greatly beloved”). Pause and let that sink in. In the midst of your sacrifice, God sees you as greatly loved—not because of your performance, but because you are His. How does hearing that change how you view the discomfort of these final days?
  • Daniel felt weak, but God’s touch and words strengthened him. Where have you felt weak during this fast (physically, emotionally, spiritually)? Bring that to God right now and ask for His strengthening touch.
  • Endurance isn’t about perfection; it’s about showing up consistently in the “secret place” (Matthew 6:17-18), even when no one sees. The small, daily choices—choosing obedience over convenience, prayer over distraction—are forging resilience in your faith.

Journal prompts to guide your time with the Lord:

  1. What changes or convictions has God placed on your heart so far in this fast? (Sins to forsake, habits to build, people to pray for more fervently?) List them and commit them to Him for faithfulness this year and beyond.
  2. How has denying physical desires revealed areas where you need more dependence on God? Celebrate any breakthroughs, no matter how small.
  3. Pray about your “pacing”—not rushing ahead or lagging behind, but walking steadily with the Lord. Ask Him to sustain you through these last few days and into whatever He has next.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for calling me greatly loved, even in my weakness. On this Day 18, strengthen me as You did Daniel. Help me endure with courage, peace, and joy. I commit my way to You—my fast, my prayers, my life. Act on my behalf, reveal more of Yourself, and let this time draw me closer to Your heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You’re doing beautifully—keep pressing in! The Lord is faithful, and these final days often bring the sweetest clarity and closeness.
