One Minute Catechism: Why Do We Pray the Rosary

The Rosary is a powerful prayer that unites us to the life of Jesus through the eyes of His Blessed Mother Mary. The Catechism teaches that prayer is “the raising of one’s mind and heart to God” (CCC 2559), and the Rosary does exactly that by meditating on the mysteries of Christ’s life—His birth, suffering, death, resurrection, and glory.

Each Hail Mary echoes the words of the angel Gabriel and Elizabeth, asking Mary to “pray for us sinners” (CCC 2676-2678). By praying the Rosary daily, we grow in faith, hope, and charity; we battle temptation; and we draw closer to Jesus, who is the center of every mystery.

St. Padre Pio called the Rosary “the weapon against the evils of the world.” In a busy life, it’s a simple way to stay connected to God’s love and Mary’s intercession. As Mary said at Fatima: “Pray the Rosary every day.”

Try praying one decade today—let it bring peace to your heart. Amen
