Saint of the Day: St. Albert the Great

Feast Day: November 15

About St. Albert the Great:
Today, the Church celebrates Saint Albert the Great, a Dominican bishop, teacher, and one of the greatest minds in the history of the Church. Born around 1200 in Germany, Albert entered the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) and became famous for his remarkable knowledge in philosophy, theology, and natural sciences.

He taught at the University of Paris and was the mentor of another great saint and theologian, Saint Thomas Aquinas. Albert believed that faith and reason are not enemies, but work together in harmony, since all truth comes from God.

Albert studied the natural world with deep curiosity, writing on subjects such as biology, astronomy, geography, and chemistry. Because of his vast learning, he is honored as the Patron Saint of Scientists and Philosophers, and later the Church gave him the title Doctor of the Church.

He died in 1280 and is remembered as a humble servant of God who used his brilliant mind to glorify the Creator.

Prayer:
Saint Albert the Great, guide us to seek truth in all things and to use our knowledge to serve God and His Church. May we grow in wisdom and humility, as you did. Amen.
