Saint of the Day: Saint Victorinus of Pettau

Feast Day: November 2

Biography:
Saint Victorinus of Pettau was a bishop and martyr of the 3rd century, known as one of the earliest Christian authors to write in Latin. He was born in the Roman province of Styria (modern-day Slovenia) and became Bishop of Pettau (Ptuj). Deeply devoted to the Word of God, he wrote commentaries on the Scriptures, especially the Book of Revelation, making him one of the first Latin biblical exegetes in the Church’s history.

During the brutal persecutions under Emperor Diocletian, Saint Victorinus was martyred for his unwavering faith in Christ around the year 303. His writings and witness continue to inspire Christians to stand firm in faith amid trials.

Reflection:
Saint Victorinus teaches us that courage and fidelity to the truth of the Gospel are the path to eternal life.

Prayer:
Lord, through the example and intercession of Saint Victorinus, strengthen our faith and grant us courage to proclaim Your truth in all circumstances. Amen.
