Benedictine College is asking the faithful around the nation to join their ‘Memorare Army’ and pray 10 Memorares each day from Oct. 22, 2025, to Feb. 11, 2026, for the school’s fundraising efforts to establish a pro-life medical school.
“There is no higher priority than creating a totally pro-life medical school to educate doctors who will serve the underserved and stay faithful to Catholic bioethics in every way, modeling itself on Jesus Christ the teacher and healer,” Stephen Minnis, president of Benedictine College, said, according to a press release on Benedictine’s website. “But this will only happen by the grace of God, through the intercession of the Blessed Mother. So please join us in this important task.”
Each participant in the “Memorare Army” will pray 10 Memorares each day for 100 days, totaling 1,000 prayers from each member. Benedictine announced this initiative Oct. 7, the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.
The prayer intention for the Memorares is “That Benedictine College will successfully raise the funds necessary to establish America’s most pro-life medical school, modeled on Jesus Christ the healer and teacher.”
This is not the first time that the college has recruited a “Memorare Army.” Previous instances were for the intentions of increasing enrollment, building a Marian Grotto, and constructing several buildings.
Minnis said the college’s various successes are due to its commitment to the Blessed Mother and the school’s mission.
“We consecrated the college and its mission to Our Lady,” he said, “and put our future efforts in her hands.”
The proposed medical school’s mission statement “is to educate medical students within a community of faith and scholarship to become skilled physicians dedicated to the physical, spiritual, and mental well-being of all individuals, in fidelity to the healing and teaching ministry of Jesus Christ through the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church.”
The school will have four core values: the infinite dignity of the human person, authentic Catholic bioethics, services to God by serving others, and formation of the student.
The medical school intends to accept its first class of students in 2028.
Those interested in participating in the Memorare Army are encouraged to use a printable flyer from the college to track their progress toward 1,000 Memorares.
