Three leading Christian apps — two Protestant and one Catholic — are working together to challenge people to spend time with Scripture each day during November, Global Bible Month.
According to a press release about the collaboration’s 30-day Bible Challenge, leaders at YouVersion, Glorify, and Hallow, the three apps involved, say that they are glad to be working together to help people become more familiar with God’s Word.
Hallow is the world’s largest Catholic prayer app. Co-founder and CEO Alex Jones said in the release that it is an honor to be part of the collaboration.
“And what a great opportunity to celebrate the incredible things God is doing in the world through His Word,” he said.
Bobby Gruenewald, founder and CEO of YouVersion, said in the release that the mission is greater than any one platform and the teamwork is inspiring.
“When you see organizations that could compete choosing to work together, you’re witnessing something remarkable: people united around God’s Word,” he said. “That’s worth celebrating.”
Those interested in participating are asked to sign up and share how they will engage with Scripture over the course of the month.
The collaboration also involves using global landmarks to draw attention to Scripture. According to the release, these include coordinated displays at Times Square in New York City, Sphere in Las Vegas, and Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro.
The Museum of the Bible is also participating in the event, by opening a new exhibit on the Dead Sea Scrolls. Amazon Prime will feature curated Bible-related programming.
Global Bible Month will also be marked by a Nov. 17 celebration in Oklahoma City, Beyond a Billion, which will mark YouVersion having reached a billion downloads worldwide. It will feature special guests including Lauren Daigle, CeCe Winans, and Craig Groeschel.
Glorify Founder and CEO Henry Costa says that despite the collaboration’s many pieces it has a simple mission.
“Global Bible Month is about one thing: helping people everywhere engage with Him in a way that feels personal and possible,” he said, according to the release. “When we stand together in that mission, we’re advancing His Kingdom and sharing His love with the world.”
