Biography:
Saint John of Capistrano was born in 1386 in Capistrano, Italy. Trained as a lawyer, he served as governor before experiencing a deep conversion that led him to join the Franciscan Order. Renowned for his fiery preaching and holiness, he traveled across Europe calling people to repentance and renewal of faith. During a time of great division and heresy, he defended the truth of the Catholic faith with courage and clarity. At the age of 70, he led Christian troops in the defense of Belgrade against invading forces, encouraging them with prayer and trust in God. He died in 1456, worn out by his labors for Christ and His Church.
Prayer:
O God, You raised Saint John of Capistrano to strengthen the faith of Your people. Grant that through his prayers, we may always remain firm in the truth and zealous in Your service. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
