Saint of the Day: Saint John Leonardi

Feast Day: October 9
Patron Saint of: Pharmacists

Short Biography:
Saint John Leonardi was born in 1541 in Diecimo, Italy. Originally trained as a pharmacist, he soon felt a deep call to serve God more directly. After becoming a priest, he founded the Clerks Regular of the Mother of God, a congregation devoted to renewing the Christian faith through education, charity, and missionary work.

He also helped establish the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith (Propaganda Fide) in Rome, which supported missionaries around the world. His heart burned with love for the Church and the spread of the Gospel. Saint John Leonardi passed away in 1609, caring for victims of the plague.

Prayer:

Lord God, through the example of Saint John Leonardi, inspire us to spread Your Word with courage and compassion.
Strengthen all who dedicate their lives to serving Your Church.
Amen.
