Saint Agatha (c. 231–251) was a young Christian woman from Sicily who courageously gave her life for Christ during the Roman persecutions. Known for her beauty and noble birth, she consecrated herself entirely to God and refused the advances of a powerful Roman official.
Because of her firm faith and vow of chastity, Saint Agatha suffered cruel persecution and torture, yet she remained steadfast, trusting completely in Christ. She died a martyr, offering her suffering as a witness to her love for God.
Saint Agatha is honored as a model of purity, strength, and unwavering faith. Her courage continues to inspire Christians, especially women, to remain faithful to Christ despite trials.
