Saint of the Day: Saint John Bosco, Priest

Saint John Bosco (1815–1888), also known as Don Bosco, was an Italian priest and educator who dedicated his life to the care and formation of poor and abandoned youth. Living during a time of great social change, he responded to the needs of young people with patience, kindness, and deep trust in God.

Guided by a strong devotion to the Eucharist and to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint John Bosco founded the Salesian Society, focusing on education, vocational training, and spiritual formation. His “preventive system” emphasized reason, religion, and loving kindness rather than punishment.

Saint John Bosco’s joyful spirit, gentleness, and tireless work transformed the lives of countless young people. His example reminds us that holiness grows through love, joy, and service to others.
