January 26 in the Catholic liturgical calendar is the Memorial of Saints Timothy and Titus, Bishops. These two were close collaborators and spiritual sons of St. Paul the Apostle. Timothy (to whom Paul wrote 1 and 2 Timothy) served as bishop of Ephesus, while Titus (addressee of the Epistle to Titus) was bishop of Crete.
The Church honors their apostolic zeal, fidelity to the Gospel, and role in building up the early Christian communities.
opening prayer from the Roman Missal for this memorial:
O God, who adorned Saints Timothy and Titus
with apostolic virtues,
grant, through the intercession of them both,
that we may live justly and devoutly in this present age,
eagerly awaiting the blessed hope
and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
