This Lent, the faithful are invited to encounter Christ through Scripture in the largest nationwide Bible study in America.
Beginning Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18, Bible Across America’s seven-week study, hosted by the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, will walk participants through the Sunday Mass readings of Lent.
The following presenters will offer insights:
- John Bergsma, theology professor at Franciscan University of Steubenville, author of Jesus and the Jubilee
- Fr. Dave Pivonka, TOR, president of Franciscan University of Steubenville and host of “The Wild Goose”
- Emily Stimpson Chapman, Catholic author and speaker behind The Story of All Stories
- Megan Hjelmstad, a speaker and the author of Offer It Up: Discovering the Power and Purpose of Redemptive Suffering
Together with host Shane Owens, assistant professor of theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville, the presenters will guide participants in discovering how Scripture speaks into daily life and “prepares our hearts for Easter.”
The series builds on the success of Journey Through Scripture, encouraging Catholics to experience their own “Emmaus Moment” by meeting Christ in Word and doctrine.
“By witnessing the transformative power of studying Scripture in community, Bible Across America will inspire Catholics across the nation to introduce communal Scripture study in their own homes and parishes,” its website states.

Participation is free, but requires starting a 30-day free trial of the St. Paul Center’s All-Access Membership. Participants will retain access to the Lent Bible study through April 12 even if they cancel afterward. Those interested in participating can sign up here.
