Trump pardons Giuliani, Meadows, and others accused of attempting to overturn the 2020 election

President Donald Trump has granted pardons to his former personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, and dozens of other key figures accused of efforts to overturn the 2020 election, according to U.S. Pardon Attorney Ed Martin.

Released Nov. 9 by Martin, the proclamation declares that it “ends a grave national injustice perpetrated upon the American people following the 2020 Presidential Election and continues the process of national reconciliation.”

The pardons grant “full, complete, and unconditional” pardons to “all United States citizens for conduct relating to the advice, creation, organization, execution, submission, support, voting, activities, participation in, or advocacy for or of any slate or proposed slate of Presidential electors, whether or not recognized by any State or State official, in connection with the 2020 Presidential Election, as well for any conduct relating to their efforts to expose voting fraud and vulnerabilities in the 2020 Presidential Election,” according to the text.

Trump then named 77 individuals, including Giuliani, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, and several attorneys — among them Sidney Powell, Kenneth Chesebro, and John Eastman — who advised Trump in 2020. He said the list was “not limited to” those named and emphasized that he did not include himself.

According to the text, the proclamation was signed Nov. 7. The pardons apply only to federal offenses and are largely symbolic, as none of the individuals named have been convicted of federal crimes.
