Saint of the Day: St. Maurice and Companions

Feast Day: September 22

St. Maurice was the commander of the Theban Legion, a group of Christian soldiers from Egypt who served in the Roman army during the 3rd century. When Emperor Maximian ordered them to persecute fellow Christians, Maurice and his companions refused. Their loyalty to Christ cost them their lives, as the entire legion—numbering thousands—was martyred in Switzerland around the year 287.

St. Maurice is honored as a model of courage, faithfulness, and integrity, showing that obedience to God must come before obedience to men. He is the patron saint of soldiers, the Swiss Guard, and those seeking strength in trials.

🙏 Prayer

O God, who gave St. Maurice and his companions the courage to remain steadfast in faith, grant us the strength to always put You first, even in times of difficulty. May we live with integrity, courage, and love for You above all things. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
