In our human weakness, we often face situations that feel overwhelming, hopeless, or impossible. Yet the Catholic faith reminds us that nothing is impossible for God (Luke 1:37). From the very beginning of salvation history, God has shown His power to accomplish what human beings could never achieve on their own.

1. God’s Power in Salvation History
- Abraham and Sarah – Though they were advanced in age and childless, God fulfilled His promise: “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14). Isaac was born, showing that God’s covenant is stronger than human limitations.
- The Exodus – God led His people out of slavery in Egypt, parting the Red Sea when all hope seemed lost (Exodus 14:21–22).
- The Virgin Mary – The angel Gabriel told Mary that she would conceive by the Holy Spirit. Her humble “yes” allowed God’s plan of salvation to unfold, and Gabriel reassured her with these words: “For nothing will be impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37).
2. Jesus’ Ministry of the Impossible
Throughout the Gospels, Christ demonstrates that what seems impossible for man is possible with God:
- He heals the blind (Mark 10:46–52), raises the dead (John 11:43–44), and forgives sins (Mark 2:5–12).
- When the disciples wondered how anyone could be saved, Jesus responded: “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26).
3. Our Faith Today
The Catholic Church teaches that miracles are not only events of the past, but signs of God’s ongoing presence and power. Every Eucharist is a miracle where bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ — something humanly impossible, but divinely real.
When we face trials in our lives, whether illness, family struggles, or personal weakness, we are invited to trust in God’s power, not our own. The Catechism reminds us: “Faith is certain. It is more certain than all human knowledge because it is founded on the very word of God who cannot lie.” (CCC 157).
4. Living in Hope
God calls us to live with confidence that His grace can transform every situation. As Saint Paul assures us: “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Even in our struggles, God is at work, making the impossible possible in ways we may not yet understand.
As Catholics, we walk in faith knowing that God’s power is unlimited. What seems impossible in our eyes becomes a doorway for His glory. Let us echo Mary’s words: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38). With this trust, we will see that God truly makes the impossible possible.
Each day, before your feet touch the ground in the morning, pause for a moment of faith. Close your eyes and say aloud from your heart and lips:
“God makes the impossible possible.”
Repeat it three times, letting the words strengthen your spirit and fill you with trust in His power.
Start your day rooted in this truth, and you will walk with confidence that the God of miracles is with you.
