Saint of the Day: Saint Rose of Lima (1586–1617)

Saint Rose of Lima, the first canonized saint of the Americas, was born in Peru. From a young age, she dedicated herself completely to God, practicing prayer, penance, and acts of charity for the poor. She lived a life of humility and simplicity, choosing to serve Christ rather than pursue worldly comforts or marriage.

Her deep devotion to Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary inspired many, and she became a symbol of holiness throughout Latin America. Saint Rose is the patroness of Peru, South America, and the Philippines, reminding the faithful that holiness is possible in everyday life.

Prayer
Saint Rose of Lima, you showed us that true beauty is found in virtue and love for God. Pray for us, that we may seek holiness in our daily lives and bring Christ’s love to others. Amen.
