Saint Clare of Assisi (1194–1253) was the spiritual sister and close friend of Saint Francis of Assisi. Inspired by his example, she left her wealthy family to embrace a life of poverty, prayer, and service to God. She founded the Order of Poor Ladies, later known as the Poor Clares, dedicating herself to living the Gospel with humility and simplicity. Renowned for her deep faith, she once miraculously repelled an invading army by holding up the Blessed Sacrament. Saint Clare spent her final years in prayer and devotion, leaving behind a legacy of trust in God’s providence.
