Today (July 20th) the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of Mar Elias (Elijah)
The Hebrew name: Eliahu Hanavie my God is Yahwa אליהו הנביא
In Arabic: مار الياس Mar Elias comes from the Greek name
Prayer:
O glorious Prophet Elijah,
fiery servant of the Living God,
you stood boldly before kings and called down fire from heaven.
In the silence of Mount Horeb,
you heard the whisper of God’s voice and walked in His presence.
Intercede for us, that we too may have the courage
to speak the truth, live by faith, and trust in God’s providence.
Help us to listen for the still, small voice of the Lord
amid the noise of the world.
We ask your prayers, holy prophet,
for our world today —
for peace in the Holy Land, for the persecuted,
and for all who seek to follow the Lord in faith and obedience.
St. Elijah, Mar Elias, pray for us.
