Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati’s canonization confirmed for June 13

The Vatican has announced that Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati will be canonized on June 13 during a public consistory presided over by Pope Leo XIV.

The event, scheduled for 9 a.m. in the Consistory Hall of the Apostolic Palace, will include the celebration of Terce and the formal proceedings for the canonization of several Blesseds.

Frassati, born in Italy in 1901, was known for his vibrant faith, love for the poor, and passion for the outdoors. A member of the Third Order of Saint Dominic, he quietly served those in need while living a life deeply rooted in prayer, the Eucharist, and devotion to Mary.

Originally expected to be canonized during the 2025 Jubilee Year under Pope Francis — alongside young Blessed Carlo Acutis — Frassati’s canonization schedule had been uncertain following the pope’s death but has now been officially confirmed.

The June 13 consistory will also include the canonizations of Ignazio Choukrallah Maloyan, Peter To Rot, Vincenza Maria Poloni, Maria del Monte Carmelo Rendiles Martínez, Maria Troncatti, José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros, and Bartolo Longo.
