CV NEWS FEED // Brianna Rivers, the assailant who punched Live Action journalist Savannah Craven Antao on camera during a man-on-the-street interview, was arrested April 10, according to the National Review.
The outlet reports that Craven Antao announced the arrest on her Instagram page, writing, “Just got word from detectives Brianna J Rivers was arrested! God is good!”
Rivers has been charged with one count of second-degree assault.
As CatholicVote previously reported, the attack took place April 3 and Rivers identified herself April 5 on social media as the attacker.
Craven Antao spoke with Rivers for 20 minutes before Rivers suddenly punched her in the face twice. Craven Antao needed two stitches in her eyebrow after the attack.
Craven Antao had asked Rivers at one point during the interview if she thought children in foster care should be killed, and Rivers answered, “Why not?” When Antao brought it up again several minutes later, Rivers attacked her.
The full footage of the attack showed Rivers walking away after the attack while dancing and showing her middle finger to the camera.
In an April 5 Facebook post, Rivers blamed Craven Antao for the attack, claiming she antagonized her.
“To Savannah, I sincerely apologize but cannot sit around and allow you to continue pushing this one sided narrative,” she wrote on Facebook. “I understand hands being put on someone is never the answer, but throwing rocks and hiding hands is worse. She knows the truth and she needs to release the footage in its entirety. Savannah is a professional antagonist not a ‘reporter’ and the truth will be told.”
LiveAction released the full video on YouTube April 6.
