CV NEWS FEED // President Donald Trump signed an executive order Wednesday to repeal Obama and Biden-era regulations that limited water pressure in common household appliances, including showerheads, faucets, and dishwashers.
The order directs the Department of Energy to rescind federal regulations on showerheads, aiming to restore higher water pressure by reverting to a 1992 definition that allows up to 2.5 gallons per minute.
“Under Obama and Biden, the government issued lengthy rules—thousands of words long—redefining ‘showerhead’ as a ‘nozzle’ and making multi-nozzle showers illegal if they collectively discharged over 2.5 gallons of water per minute,” a White House fact sheet stated.

“No market failure justifies this intrusion: Americans pay for their own water and should be free to choose their showerheads without federal meddling,” the statement noted.
Trump criticized the previous administration’s restrictions as out of touch.
“You have many places where they have water, they have so much water they don’t know what to do with it,” he said. “But people buy a house, they turn on the sink, and water barely comes out. They take a shower, water barely comes out. And it’s an unnecessary restriction.”
The move is part of Trump’s broader push to cut federal regulations and return consumer choice to everyday Americans.
Earlier this week, Trump signed a separate order to boost the US coal industry, aiming to “put miners back to work” and end what he called “Joe Biden’s war on beautiful, clean coal.”
The administration also highlighted its track record of dismantling what it described as a “radical green agenda that made life worse for everyday Americans,” including withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement and terminating the Green New Deal.
