A decade of The LOOP: CatholicVote celebrates 10-year milestone

CV NEWS FEED // Ten years ago today, CatholicVote launched a small email newsletter with a big mission: to inform, equip, and inspire Catholics across the country. Today, The LOOP reaches hundreds of thousands of readers every day — blending cultural and political headlines with the unchanging truths of the Catholic faith.

Josh Mercer, cofounder of CatholicVote and The LOOP, says the success of the newsletter can only be attributed to one thing: grace.

“The massive success of The LOOP is humbling, honestly,” Mercer said. “If anything, I think it’s just a sign that God has blessed it because He finds it useful.”

From its earliest days, The LOOP aimed to be more than just a news summary. In a digital world flooded with noise, it offered clarity — reporting on the issues that matter to Catholics, while also pointing readers back to the foundations of their faith.

The LOOP communicates with hundreds of thousands of Catholics nationwide every day, and it doesn’t just keep people up to date on the political and cultural issues that matter most to our Church,” Mercer said. “It also always has the simple and timeless truths of our faith: the daily readings, the saint of the day, and prayerful reflections that help each reader get a little closer to becoming the saint God calls him or her to be.”

As CatholicVote celebrates The LOOP’s 10th anniversary, Mercer invites all readers — old and new — to take a moment to offer a prayer of gratitude.

“Please join me in saying a simple prayer of thanksgiving on The LOOP’s 10th anniversary,” he said. “And if you want to participate a little more, please consider sharing The LOOP with your contacts too. There can never be too many LOOPers!”
