(March 7, 2025) Our Lord Jesus tells us that He will reward what is done in secret! (Prayer, Fasting, Almsgiving).
so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. -Matthew 6:18
As I reflect on Day 3 of Lent, I am struck by how quickly the early days of this season pass. What seemed like an overwhelming challenge to give up certain comforts and reorient my life toward God now feels like an invitation to deepen my relationship with Him.
Today, I was reminded of the gospel readings from Ash Wednesday, where Jesus talks about fasting in secret, not to show off or gain approval, but to focus on what truly matters. I’ve had to ask myself: what is my motivation behind these sacrifices? Is it just for tradition? Or am I truly seeking a deeper encounter with Christ, who gave up everything for me?
Fasting means spending time with Christ in the desert, talking to Him, praying, and asking Him to renew your heart.
Apart from the cross, there is no other ladder by which we may get to heaven.” -St. Rose of Lima
Prayer:
Guide me, Lord, to live with humility and patience, trusting that You will transform me from the inside out. Strengthen my resolve, and fill me with the peace that only You can provide.
In Jesus name. Amen
Make this Lent the best of your life (Prayer, Fasting, Repent, Almsgiving).
