CV NEWS FEED // Virginia-based Catholic students with Aquinas Learning, a Catholic homeschool program, have been bringing classic stories in their curriculum to life through theater productions, according to the Arlington Catholic Herald.
The Herald reported on May 30 that the students recently put on a theater adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice,” and Josephine Nobisso’s “The Weight of the Mass.”
Aquinas Learning included both of these stories in its curriculum for the 2023-2024 academic year, and the Theatre Troupe, an Aquinas-inspired club, adapted both stories for interested students to put on at the Journey Theater in Warrenton, VA.
According to the Herald, the theater troupe’s mission is to “bring God glory and do something together as a team that we can be proud of and bring truth, goodness, and beauty into the world.”
The students’ recent theater productions were complete with sets, costumes, and live violin and piano.
Rosario Reilly, who founded Aquinas Learning in 2009, reflected on how theater can enrich students’ education.“
There’s no richer marinade than diving deeply into a production of great works,” she said, adding that students can be transformed by the stories’ “universal lessons that clearly and brightly reflect natural and divine laws,” according to the Herald.
