Saint Conrad of Piacenza was born into a noble family in Italy in the 13th century. As a young man, a tragic accident during a hunting trip caused a forest fire, leading to great destruction. Stricken with guilt, Conrad publicly confessed, made restitution, and chose a life of deep repentance and humility.
Leaving behind wealth and status, he embraced the Franciscan way of life and later lived as a hermit, dedicating himself to prayer, fasting, and charity. His holiness, simplicity, and trust in God drew many people to him, and he became known for miracles, wisdom, and compassion for the poor.
Saint Conrad reminds us that conversion is always possible, and that God can transform even our greatest failures into paths of grace and holiness.
