Saint of the Day: Saint Eulalia of Barcelona

Saint Eulalia (c. 290–303) was a young Christian martyr from Barcelona, Spain. Though still a teenager, she courageously professed her faith in Jesus Christ during the persecution of Christians under the Roman Empire. Refusing to deny Christ, Eulalia endured suffering with remarkable strength and trust in God.

Her fearless witness and purity of heart became a powerful testimony to the truth of the Gospel. Saint Eulalia’s martyrdom reminds us that holiness is not measured by age, but by faith, courage, and love for Christ.

She is honored as the patron saint of Barcelona and a symbol of youthful faith and perseverance.

Did You Know?

According to tradition, after Saint Eulalia’s death, a white dove was seen rising from her body, symbolizing her pure soul ascending to God.

Prayer

Saint Eulalia,
young martyr and faithful witness,
pray for us that we may stand firm in our faith.
Give us courage to follow Christ
with purity of heart and trust in God,
even in times of trial.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
