Daily Catholic Prayer for January 17, 2026

Memorial of Saint Anthony, Abbot – Anniversary of Our Lady of Hope of PontmainLord God,

You called Saint Anthony the Abbot into the desert to serve You with a life of solitude, prayer, and battle against temptation, making him a model of detachment and unwavering faith.

On this day, as we remember his heroic witness, grant us the grace to renounce worldly distractions, embrace silence in our hearts, and seek You above all things. Through his intercession, strengthen us against the snares of the enemy, heal our spiritual wounds, and fill us with the courage to live as true disciples in this ordinary time.

We also turn to Our Lady of Hope of Pontmain, who appeared on this very day in 1871 to bring comfort amid war and fear. Her message—“But pray, my children. God will hear you in time. My Son allows Himself to be touched”—reminds us that hope shines brightest in darkness through persevering prayer and union with the Cross.

O Virgin Mary, Mother of Hope, intercede for us today. Teach us to pray with childlike trust, knowing that God hears our cries and acts in His perfect time. May your maternal smile encourage us, and your Son’s mercy heal us.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.Saint Anthony, Abbot, pray for us!
Our Lady of Hope (Our Lady of Pontmain), pray for us!
