Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto is the founder of The Kukah Centre, a Nigeria-based public policy institute.

The bishop emphasized that ‘genocide’ is defined not by the number of deaths or attacks alone but by intent, a deliberate plan to eliminate a group.
