One Minute Catechism: What is the value of a Mass?

What is the value of a Mass?

The Holy Mass has infinite value, because it is the same Sacrifice of Jesus Christ on Calvary, made present in an unbloody manner on the altar. Christ, who is God, offers Himself to the Father, and therefore the worth of the Mass cannot be measured or compared to any earthly treasure.

A single Mass gives more glory to God than all the prayers and good works of humanity combined, because it is the perfect offering of Christ Himself. It brings grace for the living and the dead, forgives sins (not as Confession, but by increasing contrition), and helps souls in Purgatory.

As the saints teach:
One Mass is worth more than all the riches of the world, because it applies to us the merits of Christ’s Passion.
