About St. Finbarr
Saint Finbarr (also known as Fionnbarr or Barr Fionn) was born in the 6th century near Bandon in County Cork, Ireland. From a young age, he was drawn to prayer and the study of Scripture. He became a monk and later a bishop, founding a monastery and school in Cork that attracted many students and disciples. This site eventually developed into the city of Cork, with Saint Finbarr as its patron saint.

Saint Finbarr was known for his holiness, simplicity, and devotion to God. Many miracles were attributed to him, and he was deeply loved by the people of Ireland. He died around the year 623, and his final resting place became a place of pilgrimage for centuries.
