Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Celebration in the Holy Land — The Galilee

In the Holy Land, the feast holds a deep and unique significance. Every year on the eve of the feast (September 13), thousands of Catholics from across the region gather in the Galilee to honor the Holy Cross. Pilgrims come from different villages, towns, and parishes, uniting in prayer, hymns, and a solemn procession.

At 6:00 PM (Jerusalem time), the Cross is lifted high before the faithful, accompanied by chants and prayers, as a visible sign of unity and faith. This tradition is not only a remembrance of the historical discovery of the Cross but also a living testimony that the Cross continues to give strength to Christians in the land where Jesus Himself walked.
