Saint of the Day: St. Cajetan

Saint of the Day: St. Cajetan

Feast Day: August 7

St. Cajetan (1480–1547) was an Italian priest, reformer, and founder of the Theatines, a religious order committed to renewing the Church and encouraging holiness among clergy and laity. Born into a noble family in Vicenza, Italy, Cajetan studied law and served in the Vatican before being ordained a priest.

Moved by the need for deep reform in the Church during a time of corruption and decline, he devoted his life to prayer, care for the poor, and the spiritual renewal of priests. He co-founded the Theatines to model a life of apostolic poverty, humility, and active charity.

St. Cajetan had great devotion to the Eucharist and is known for trusting in Divine Providence, never asking for money while ministering to the poor.

Patron of: the unemployed, job seekers, and those seeking financial help.

Prayer:
St. Cajetan, you trusted in God’s providence and served the poor with love—pray for us, that we may place our trust in the Lord and seek first His Kingdom. Amen.
