Feast Day: July 10
Patron of: Rome; against earthquake and lightning
Short Biography:
Saints Rufina and Secunda were two noble Roman sisters who lived in the 3rd century. When Emperor Valerian’s persecution forced them to renounce their inherited wealth and faith, they boldly professed Christ before the prefect. Refusing to deny the Lord, they were scourged, weighed down by stones, and drowned in the Tiber River around the year 257, sealing their witness with the Blood of martyrdom.
Short Prayer
O Lord, by the noble sacrifice of Saints Rufina and Secunda, grant us the courage to reject worldly vanities and to stand faithfully by Your Church. Through their intercession, preserve us from fear in times of trial and strengthen us in hope of Gospel victory. Amen.
