Cardinal Francis Leo of Toronto was created a cardinal by Pope Francis during the consistory at St. Peter’s Basilica on Dec. 7, 2024.

Jesus’ heart, he explained, is ‘one of the most profound and enduring symbols in Catholic devotional life.’
