CV NEWS FEED // Franciscan University of Steubenville has announced the speaker lineup for its upcoming Defending the Faith Steubenville Conference in July, promising attendees an exciting and formative weekend centered around the theme “Grounded in the Word of God.”
“At the Defending the Faith Conference, you will be given the tools to fortify your faith and the knowledge to proclaim Jesus Christ confidently and without fear,” states the conference’s promotional video. “This weekend conference will send you forth with a deeper understanding of church teachings and renewed zeal to stand for the truth with mercy and courage.”
This year’s theme, “Grounded in the Word of God,” is based on Hebrews 4:12: “Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.”
The three-day conference will feature speakers such as Steve Ray, Dr. Scott and Kimberly Hahn, Jeff Cavins, Dr. Andrew Swafford, Curtis Martin, and Bishop Earl K. Fernandes of the Diocese of Columbus.
The promotional video added that in today’s culture “it seems that the truths of life, family, and faith are being attacked from all sides.”
“Engaging in our relativistic world with the unchanging truth of Jesus can be challenging,” the video continued. “At times we feel helpless, struggling to find the words to defend the very principles we hold nearest to our hearts.”
The conference promises to provide young adults with the resources needed to find their words and become witnesses for Christ.
In addition to keynote speakers and workshops, the conference offers opportunities to go to Confession, Mass, and prayer ministry, as well as a Eucharistic Holy Hour.
Young adults attending the conference also have the opportunity to participate in new events specifically geared towards them, including a young adult block party and social and a talk on vocation and mission. Young adults ages 18-30 also receive a special blessing at Mass and a lower registration rate.
Registration is currently open online.
